About Us

The firm of Harvey Copping and Harrison was established in 1987 as a result of a merger of the former practices of Harvey Collins and Todman and Todman. Both these practices were long established in Wickford. Since the merger, the firm has continued to grow, which in turn has allowed for increased individual specialisation. The firm opened its office in South Woodham Ferrers in 1989.

On the 1st July 2009 the firm became one of the first practices in the country to set up a Legal Disciplinary Practice as authorised by the Legal Services Act 2007. On this date the firm also converted to LLP status with Andrew Vanner becoming a Partner.

Below are profiles of the current personnel within the practice :-

PARTNERS

VICTOR COPPING.
Victor qualified as a Solicitor in 1982 and was formerly with Harvey Collins. Since 1987 he has been the senior partner of Harvey Copping & Harrison. Victor is based at the Wickford Office and specialises in residential and commercial property transactions.

He has extensive local knowledge of property matters as a result of having practised within south east Essex for 30 years.

NICHOLAS HARRISON
Nick qualified as a Solicitor in 1980 and was formerly with Todman and Todman. Since 1987 he has been a partner in the practice.

Nick is based at the Wickford Office and specialises in employment law, debt recovery, civil litigation, disputed probate and trusts and matrimonial and relationship breakdown.

SUE SHEPARD
Sue initially undertook work experience with the firm whilst still a student and in 1991 joined the practice as a trainee solicitor. Sue was admitted as a Solicitor in 1993 and became a partner of the firm in 1995.

Sue is based at South Woodham Ferrers office, specialising in Family and Children matters. She is an advanced member of the Law Society's Family Law Panel.

ANDREW VANNER
Andrew has worked in the law since 1981 and qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in 1996. Andrew joined the practice in 1997 and became a partner of the firm this year. He is based at the South Woodham Ferrers Office but is the head of the residential conveyancing department for both offices.

MICHELLE SMITH
After completing her Law Degree in 2003, Michelle initially joined the practice working as a Legal Assistant in the Family Department at the South Woodham Ferrers Office under the supervision of Sue Shepard. In 2004, Michelle began the Legal Practice Course, whilst continuing to work for the practice as a trainee solicitor. Michelle qualified as a solicitor in April 2007.

Michelle is now based at our Wickford office specialising in Children and Family matters and is a member of Resolution.

KAYE GARRATT
Kaye has been with the practice since 1986 and qualified from the Institute of Legal Accounts Managers at London University in 1997.

Kaye is the Accounts Manager of the practice, with control of both office and client accounts for both the Wickford and South Woodham Ferrers Office.

PRACTICE MANAGER

MARION SMITH
Marion joined the former practice of Harvey Collins and Jones in 1970 and has been with the practice, in between raising her family, since that date.

Marion is the practice manager dealing with all matters arising from the day-to-day running of both the Wickford and South Woodham Ferrers Office. She also reports directly to Vic Copping as his Assistant.
